Louw van Riet is a web designer/graphic designer with strong background in Database Analysis, Data Reporting & Administration. He grew up in Paarl and is a very keen canoeist. Paddling is a family tradition and Louw has taken part in many canoe marathons throughout South Africa.
After school Louw worked for over eight years as the main database analyst at SAPnet for the South African book industry, working with leading experts in the book and publisher industry on sales reporting and forecasting. He was responsible for overseeing the data collection, importing and reporting on a weekly basis under high pressure situations.
This has equipped him with all the skills necessary to work under a tight deadline. He’s focus is now on Web Designing, SEO & Social Media Management and has been running his own web and graphic design company since December 2012. He works as a consultant for many firms, assisting them with various IT tasks, from online branding strategies, Web Design, Search Engine Optimization, Systems Usability etc.
Social Media Expert
Louise has an Honours Degree in Journalism from the University of Stellenbosch and been writing in the South African fresh produce sector for 15 years. She has written for various South African publications in the field both locally and as a foreign correspondent of Fresh produce magazines in Europe. She is the current South African correspondent for German publication Fruchthandel, the biggest fresh produce magazine in Europe and has also contributed to the British Fresh Produce Journal, Dutch AGF Vakblad Magazine and Spanish/French Eurofresh Magazine.
Louise also writes the “The Last Word” column in the South African Fruit Journal and is also a regular contributor in the South African Fruit Journal on a wide range of fruit industry topics. She is the author of nine South African citrus, stone fruit and top fruit and grape industries. This includes the photography in all and layout in most these publications. She was awarded the Izethelu Award for excellence in Journalism by the Deciduous Fruit Producers’ Trust in 2007.
Louise has an online photographic library website which showcases and sells her photographs. This is a collection of fresh produce photography and includes cultivars, nurseries, production, production scenery, harvesting, logistics, receivers, close up studies and other associated topics.
In 2008 she hosted a solo photographic exhibition called “Feast the Eye” held at the Jean Welz Gallery, Worcester. Emile Joubert, Afrikaans wine and food writer opened the exhibition. Very successful with 80% of art sold on exhibition. Louise provides large, bold interior décor photographic art projects completed for corporate, commercial and private clients in the fresh produce sector.

Social Media Expert
Gawie Nieuwoudt is from Augrabies in the Northern Cape and grew up working in the vineyards on his father’s farm along the Orange River during holidays. He is passionate about people, adventure and marketing and sets his horizons as wide as Northern Cape vistas.
Gawie has a degree in Economics from the University of Stellenbosch but more importantly a degree from the University of Life! He is an excellent project manager, organizer and communicator with plenty of chutzpah to go around. He also is also a past master at making a plan!
He started his career as a table grape farmer on the banks of the Orange River at Augrabies in the Northern Cape. His passion for the industry led to his involvement in organized agriculture on various boards including serving the industry’s top post as Chairman of the South African Table Grape Industry.
Subsequent to that he moved his business focus to tourism with the establishment of Khamkirri River camp and adventure destination on the north bank of the Orange River at Augrabies. Khamkirri provided the base for adventure tourism, and Gawie also regularly offered event hosting, team building as well as scouting and hosting both international and national film industries for film sets and documentary coverage of the region. In the process he assisted a number of international TV Channels in the shooting of documentaries and has also assisted most South African TV channels and publications.
Organizing Green Kalahari canoe Marathon, one of the top Marathons in South Africa:
One of the main activities available at Khamkirri is paddling and through an initiative to promote paddling and tourism in the region Gawie founded the Green Kalahari Canoe marathon in 2011. From small beginnings the marathon has now grown to a much-anticipated annual event on the paddling calendar. Gawie remains the main organizer for this event and along with sponsorship and participation from a number of businesses in the region this has been very successful in promoting paddling and tourism in the Lower Orange River region.
Gawie has a natural ability to engage with people and has a good head for business. He also has as an innate ability to lead a team, delegate and get the job done!
Public Relations & Media Management
Jacqueline has worked in the publishing industry for over 18 years, during this time she has been instrumental in launching and re-positioning various magazines and developing profitable brand extensions.
Most recently she held the position of Getaway Publisher – a travel brand with a strong wildlife and environmental focus. She also directed the Getaway Show – the largest travel expo in SA and introduced a successful Cape version of the Getaway Show to the Gauteng counterpart. Jacqueline was part of the RamsayMedia executive team, driving the Travel&Lifestyle division in a changing business environment. This experience has given her the confidence to start her own business. She now consultants and manages strategic projects within the media world on a freelance basis.
In addition to this, she co-owns Winemag.co.za – a digital platform showcasing everything about South African wine and she is involved in a number of wine-industry competitions and initiatives.
Jacqueline previously sat on the RamsayMedia board as well as the MPASA board (Magazine Publishers Association of South Africa). This publishing foundation fills her with excitement about the future of digital, the power of media and the enhancements in marketing across multiple platforms.
On a personal level, Jax has an appreciation and respect for life and freedom, for human and animals and speaks out on fairness for both.
